Internal Medicine Services

Our Services

The Small Animal Medicine section at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Ohio State University offers state-of-the-art diagnostic evaluation and treatment of dogs and cats with many different problems in internal medicine.

Service Highlights

Your pet will be well cared for by our medical teams, which typically consist of a faculty member in medicine (a board-certified specialist with many years of clinical experience), a resident (a graduate veterinarian who has completed an internship and is training to become an internal medicine specialist), an intern (a graduate veterinarian in their first year of clinical experience), a fourth year veterinary student (a veterinarian-in-training), and a registered animal health technician. Our comprehensive care includes many support services, including a complete clinical laboratory offering routine and specialized diagnostic tests; a modern imaging department that offers radiographs (X-rays), fluoroscopy (motion X-rays), ultrasound exams, CT (computed tomography), and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging); radiation therapy; endoscopy of the gastrointestinal, respiratory and urinary tracts; echocardiography (ultrasound examination of the heart); electrodiagnostic testing of muscle and nerve function; and a fully equipped intensive care service with 24-hour, 7-day-a-week monitoring and treatment.
